Kia Design web magazine contains essential content that conveys Kia’s new design philosophy – ‘Opposites United(OU)’. Accordingly, Kia Design Magazine Year Book is a transformation of a web magazine into printed material. Double-D Studio has participated in the very early stage of conceptualizing the Kia Design web magazine since 2021 and developed it through branding and editorial design. As a result, in 2022 we have transformed three volumes of Kia Design web magazine into a printed book to convey the core values of OU. We highly expect that this book plays a role of a manual for newcomers to Kia.

Two features of this book design were important to successfully convey the concept and the contents within. Firstly, we believed it is crucial to show the basic structure of this experimental book layout comes from the web magazine, therefore, we tried to embody the interactive movements from the website into the printed material. Secondly, we also believed the consistency of the typeset and the layout of the index and chapter is essential to efficiently reveal the contents of the book. We also effectively used selected colors such as ‘highlighting yellow’ and ‘silver’ which were also used in the web magazine. Lastly, we also considered it important to use eco-friendly materials for packaging which aligns with sustainable Kia’s design philosophy.
